Kova Engineering (Saskatchewan) Ltd. developed a specialized removal and replacement plan for a large fan and electric motor within a spatially constrained industrial setting. Utilizing 3D site scans, the solution featured a designed monorail crane and engineered temporary lift points, documented in detailed procedures and drawings. This efficient plan was successfully replicated for several similar installations.

PROJECT DETAILS
Project Overview
Main Objectives of the Project
Develop a plan for the removal and replacement for a fan and electric motor in an industrial setting. The area where the motor and fan are installed has limited access.
Project Description
A site visit was performed to take field measurements and 3-dimensional scans of the area. A monorail crane and several temporary lift points were designed to facilitate the removal and re-installation of the motor and fan. A procedure was developed using the newly designed lift points and monorail crane and presented in a drawing set. This design was replicated with minimal modifications for several similar locations and has been used to successfully replace motors and fans.
