Main Objectives of the Project
The primary objectives of the project were to:
- Select a mobile crane with sufficient capacity and reach for the plan.
- Develop a safe and effective rigging design.
- Determine optimal crane placement to accommodate site conditions and minimize disruption.
- Design a custom spreader bar to properly distribute lifting loads.
- Perform lifting lug analysis to confirm the reboiler assembly could be lifted without overstressing connection points.
Project Description
The project team developed a detailed lift plan addressing all technical and logistical considerations associated with moving the assembly. Crane selection was based on load capacity, site access, and boom configuration requirements. A rigging design was engineered to balance stability, safety factors, and ease of execution. The crane placement plan accounted for restricted work areas within the facility and ensured safe swing radius clearance. A custom spreader bar was designed to evenly distribute forces across the rigging system. In addition, finite element analysis and structural review were performed on the lifting lugs to verify their adequacy under anticipated loads. The final deliverable was a comprehensive lift plan providing step-by-step procedures, safety measures, and engineering verification to support a safe and successful lift operation.
